With its cool and wintery colour scheme, Cefalus is sure to add impact to any website it's applied to. Featuring subtle shadows, clean lines, beautiful typography, innovative navigation and a prominent banner, Cefalus is every definition of a quality RapidWeaver theme.

Beneath the icy surface, you will uncover a wealth of powerful style settings and colour pickers. Combined, these theme options give you a very flexible theme to customise and "make your own". Cefalus makes it easy to setup custom banners, create a mobile friendly website and get a taste of real web development through integrated ExtraContent, Font Awesome Icons, embedded font faces and the complete Bootstrap framework.

Fabulous fonts

You can never have too many font face options! Cefalus gives you over 100 web-safe and embedded font faces to choose from. You can independently change the font face applied on headings, body content and navigation. Every font face listed supports latin extended character sets. The web-safe fonts are called from the system and embedded font faces are stored within the theme. Embedded font faces are served in WOFF2 format; bringing you the benefits of much smaller file sizes and improved rendering quality. All mainstream web browsers support the fonts listed.

Cefalus displays a multi-level toggle navigation layout on mobile and smaller tablets. On wider screens, the navigation takes the format of a horizontal navigation bar, with animated drop-downs. Numerous colour pickers let you adjust the colour scheme of your menu. The font size of the menu can be adjusted. It is even possible to turn-off the animation effects if they're not needed.

Banners do not come any more flexible than the one offered in Cefalus! Within the theme style settings, you will see a group of settings under the subheading marked Banner Configuration. In essence, there are three powerful methods available to setup your banners:
  1. If using RapidWeaver 7 or above, drag and drop a suitable banner image into the Banner Image box, within the Page Inspector
  2. Turn-on ExtraContent 1 and place an image within this container using either the ExtraContent snippet or free stacks
  3. Use the FreeStyle banner technique, as documented in the ThemeFlood Knowledgebase.
Static images, sliders and possibly even basic video embeds are supported by the banner in Cefalus. The banner has no fixed height; it instead resizes to fit the content you place within. You can have the banner span the full width of the screen or contain it to the same width as you main content container.

Font Awesome

Cefalus includes the complete Font Awesome Icon library (the current version is shown in the theme details on this page). With Font Awesome you have over 600 icons at your disposal, in any colour and any size you like. And they are completely free for commercial use. No extra addons or plugins need to be purchased, to use basic Font Awesome icons in Elite. You can do some clever things with Font Awesome icons, like including them against page links in the menu or adding them to blog titles / file download links.

Flexbox Sidebar

The sidebar in Cefalus is empowered with some clever code called 'CSS Flexbox'. This permits you to have the sidebar either top or bottom on mobile, and left or right on desktop (in a choice of widths). Optionally the sidebar can be disabled completely; granting you a full-width content container.

ExtraContent allows you to add more content, than what RapidWeaver typically allows. You can learn more about ExtraContent in the ThemeFlood Knowledgebase. There are 4 ExtraContent areas in this theme:
  • ExtraContent 1 is above the content. Don’t use this area for text, only for a banner image, slideshow or video in your content.
  • ExtraContent 2 is between the content and the footer.
  • ExtraContent3 is below the footer (our demo site has social networking icons in this container).
  • ExtraContent4 is above ExtraContent1. Nice for a short message, social icons or a search box. Or a logo.

In the theme styles you can choose between different container widths (ranging between 600px and 1300px and an 'auto'). The default in Cefalus is 1000px.

Scroll-To-Top Button

A Scroll-To-Top Button (any colour is possible) fades in at the bottom right (or optional bottom centre) on your webpage when you scroll down. You can hide it in the theme styles, if you don't want it. This button can be useful on very long pages with lots of content. It offers a quick way for people to get back to the top of the page.

Changing the mobile 'Menu' button translation

Correlating to website design best practices, the 'hamburger' mobile menu button is complimented with the word 'menu'. This ensures all users to the website (especially those browsing on mobile or tablet devices) can easily navigate your completed website. The word 'menu' is set using CSS code. You can easily change the word to something else, through use of this custom CSS code added to your webpages:

#mobileNavButton .mobileNavTitle:before {
content: 'Menu';

Cefalus is a mobile responsive theme. In a nutshell, this means you build and deploy a single website with Cefalus that is optimised for all newer mobile devices, tablets and web browsers. No more needing to build different websites for different screen sizes any more. Cefalus will save you time and money. Most importantly, your website visitors will be treated to an exemplary experience on your website.

The site logo and the site title have a link applied to them, which points back to the homepage of your website. By default the logo is above the site title. Optionally you can put it in an ExtraContent area or sidebar.

The free trial version of Cefalus can be downloaded using this link. There is no time limit imposed on the demo version, but page navigation links are disabled in the demo version. Watermarks may appear in parts of the page (like the banner or footer). Purchasing Cefalus provides you with a licensed copy of Cefalus; without any demo restrictions applied.

Clicking this link will take you to a sample website published using Cefalus. This may give you a better insight into how this theme looks and behaves. If you're interested to see how the demo website was built, the same project file can be downloaded here and opened in RapidWeaver. Feel free to use this file as the basis for a new website.
