Introduction

An exclusive theme design for RapidWeaver 8. Formally developed by Jeremy Blaze and Stack Maniac as the 'Alcove' theme, this RapidWeaver theme was renamed to Industry and extensively overhauled in November 2015. Featuring a distinctive steely-grey 'light on dark' colour scheme, Industry also includes the complete Bootstrap frontend framework, the opensource Nivo Lightbox effect, and Font Awesome icons.

We've purposefully kept the list of customisable features relatively short, making this RapidWeaver theme ideal for novice users wanting to get a quality-looking website quickly deployed. However you'll still find enough options to customise the entire colour scheme and change many aspects of both the style and layout. Useful features like banner image filter effects have been retained. We've added a couple of other cool things like the ability to rotate the slogan inside the banner!

Industry has many possible uses. Some software, games and IT websites would certainly look impressive applied to Industry. Photographic portfolios and film showcases would be another genre of website that Industry could benefit. This theme has also been successfully used for sports, travel, automotive and restaurant websites in the past by some people.

Functions

These are simple buttons displayed at the top, alongside your page navigation links. The buttons for social networking services (like Twitter, Facebook and Google+) let your website users instantly share the current page link on their social accounts; which in-turn can promote your website to a wider audience. The search button will display search box when clicked, and this will forward-through to your website /search/ page, where you can use stacks like SimpleSearch, RapidSearch or RapidSearch Pro (not included with the theme). ExtraContent2 is all located in the functions bar, and this can be a valuable space to display additional content or links.

Navigation

A drop-down navigation menu us displayed on larger screens. On smaller screens this is hidden and replaced with a single 'menu' button. Clicking or tapping the menu button displays all the website navigation links down the lefthand side.

Expandable

Industry is brimming with lots of 'pro' features too. Incorporation of the Twitter Bootstrap toolkit gives you instant access to many professional user interface elements and other functionality. Font Awesome icons let you add attractive retina-enabled icons to your webpages and navigation links. Google embedded web font faces make your written content really come-alive and stand out.

Speedy

Speed is an important factor for your end users, and one of the criteria that search engines look at when ranking your webpages. With this in mind, Industry is very much optimised for faster loading pages. This is achieved by calling Javascript at the end of a page, compression of theme code, optimisation of theme graphics and compatibility with CSS consolidation in RapidWeaver.
