Introduction
Based loosely on the popular Flood RapidWeaver theme, Meadow was developed as a replacement to the Camber RapidWeaver theme, previously developed by another company. From a design perspective, Meadow is 'flat' with a default pastel-green colour scheme for the header region and links. Lots of style and colour settings exist in this theme, allowing you to recolour just about every aspect of the page to suite your own tastes or corporate colour scheme. On screens greater than 996px wide, Meadow has possibly one of the most attractive drop-down menu of any RapidWeaver theme; combining ease of use with appearance. A plentiful selection of 15 ExtraContent containers present new methods for displaying additional page content, links, social media icons and even shopping cart totals (if you're already using a plugin like RapidCart Pro). The default 'Montserrat' embedded font face gives text a slight informal, cursive feel; without the dangers of using Comic Sans! The banner in Meadow is FreeStyle enabled. This gives you the power and flexibility to embed static images, stacks, slideshows and even video. No more faffing around with complicated height settings or only being able to use a limited choice of images listed in the theme style settings. In the case of static FreeStyle banner images in Meadow, these can be simply setup by dragging and dropping a suitably sized image into your sidebar named banner.jpg or header.jpg and the theme will do the rest! You'll find the banner image responds to the width and height of whatever content is placed within. This is exactly how a responsive banner should work in any RapidWeaver theme. 20 example banner images are included in the theme (named 1.jpg to 20.jpg) to help you get started.
Easy navigation
On smaller screens less-than 996px wide, the page navigation links are displayed in the format of a simple toggle navigation menu. This makes things far easier for your visitors on smaller tablet devices and mobile devices to quickly navigate to all levels of your website in just a few touches and swipes. The colour scheme of this toggle navigation menu is fully customisable. For screens greater than 976px wide, visitors to your website will see an attractive drop-down menu with subtle CSS animation effects. A little trick you can do with navigation in this theme is to display a chevron icon next to page links that have subpages. To do this, enter the following markup after each page link title in RapidWeaver:
<i class='arrow fas fa-caret-down'></i>
Download the demo project file using the link in the sidebar, if you want to see how this was achieved using the Longitude theme.
Pages with subpages will display a simple animated drop-down menu on rollover. Again like with the toggle menu, you can adjust the colour scheme of this menu. Together with a drop-down menu (enabled by default) you can also switch to a split or sidebar block navigation layout too.
Sidebar
By default, the sidebar container is 25% wide and floated on the right. We use sidebars in RapidWeaver to display complimentary information and links for page types like the blog. Options exist to customise whether the sidebar is floated left or right of your content. The sidebar can be setup in a variety of flexible (percentage) widths. The colour scheme of the sidebar text and links can be customised too.Other details
Meadow uses valid HTML5 markup; for the best possible performance on modern web browsers and excellent compatibility with a wide range of different RapidWeaver addons. This theme has been tested and confirmed to work reliably in IE9, IE10, IE11, IE12 Edge and the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Yandex, Maxthon and Opera web browsers.Work has been done in the theme to optimise page loading and reduce the overall bandwidth of pages. Internal theme components like stylesheets, Javascript and images have been optimised for the smallest possible file sizes. We call files like Javascript at the end of pages, so that your content loads first. This gives pages a fast and 'snappy' feel to them. jQuery Javascript code within the theme runs inside its own namespace and closure, to greatly reduce the risk of conflicts with other scripts or addons you later add to pages.
