Introduction

A stunning, distinctive and highly customisable RapidWeaver theme with a minimalist taste. Photogenic started as a free RapidWeaver theme called Natural World. Many feature requests were put forward and so the theme was further developed into a full, premium theme for RapidWeaver. No compromises have been made during the development of this theme, and Photogenic boasts a comprehensive list of professional features, some of which have not been seen in a RapidWeaver theme before.

Backgrounds

Photogenic supports unlimited stretched body background images. To setup these backgrounds, simply put your images in ExtraContent1 or use the FreeStyle technique:

To help you get started, Photogenic includes 46 example background images. You can either use these images or bring-along your own custom images to use in the theme. The Background Placement group of theme style settings let you change how the background images are positioned and scaled on the page. Options are also provided to apply background overlays, which act like filters and help tone-down brighter images.

Navigation

Photogenic uses a drop-down menu. Most aspects of the menu styling can be customised using the theme style settings. This theme is using the same animated drop-down menu plugin found in other themes like Flood, Haze and Media.

Toggle navigation settings allow you to hide the conventional drop-down menu on smaller screens (like smartphones) and display a simplified toggle navigation layout instead. This avoids breakage of the menu on smaller screens and gives end users a more convenient method to navigate your completed website.

Container & Sidebar

This region of the page is formed using a simple block container. Background colour and opacity of the theme header, sidebar and content container can be modified in the theme style settings. All the normal font style and colour settings you would expect to find in ThemeFlood themes are present in Photogenic. The sidebar container can be floated either right or left, and is available in a choice of different widths to suit your content. A unique feature of the Photogenic theme is the ability to float the entire central content container either left or right, and specify a width in percent.

Responsive

Despite Photogenic looking like a complicated RapidWeaver theme, it performs remarkably well across a wide range of different devices and screen sizes. This theme displays content beautifully on large, cinematic monitors. On mobile devices, the layout reforms to a simple stacked layout. Everything you need to build a cross-device-compatible website is there. Photogenic helps you develop websites that work on multiple devices; avoiding the complex and often time consuming task of building multiple websites for different devices to view.

To start with, Photogenic incorporates complete support for the entire Twitter Bootstrap Toolkit. This instantly empowers you and opens up vast avenues to incorporate various embellishments and page functionality. Photogenic also incorporates the complete Font Awesome pack of icons, so you can spice-up your page designs with simple vector icons.

Strength

Photogenic has always been a strong RapidWeaver theme to work with. The simple two-column layout means the theme works reliably on all modern web browsers from IE7 upwards. Cosmetic embellishments like shadows and rounded corners render lightning-fast on newer web browsers (without the need for complicated Javascript code) and degrade safely on older versions of IE, where they're unlikely to be missed.

A free demo version of the theme is available for you to download using the button at the top right. This lets you install the theme in RapidWeaver and test it against real content, play around with all the different settings, throw the theme against different page styles and demonstrate the theme to clients. In the demo version, links between pages are disabled and some graphics may be watermarked.
