Introduction

A really bright and distinctive theme to make your website pop! Yet another free theme from ThemeFlood, which can be extensively customised and modified to suit personal tastes. Spring Pop uses some of the latest web design technologies. This theme is particularly well-suited for novice RapidWeaver users, as a precursor to buying more powerful themes from our website. Spring Pop will give you a gentle introduction to theme style and colour customisation, bespoke drag-and-drop banners, Font Awesome Icons, and ExtraContent. Without much time or effort, Spring Pop will give you a beautifully vivid website design.

Please note that Spring Pop is compatible with RapidWeaver 8 and above only. This theme will not install or work with older versions of RapidWeaver, due to certain API dependencies.

4 preset styles included

We include 4 preset styles, bundled with the Spring Pop theme. These allow you to quickly apply new colour schemes. Green is the default colour scheme used by the Spring Pop theme. Other available colours include organic, purple, blue and red. These can be selected from the RapidWeaver Theme Styles panel, within the Page Inspector.

Navigation

Spring Pop is designed for smaller websites. With this in mind, Spring Pop only displays a single level of page navigation links in the header bar, at the top. Any subpages will be displayed as block navigation links within the sidebar (if enabled).

ExtraContent

A total of 14 ExtraContent containers are built into Spring Pop. These are located throughout the theme in useful places; like the header bar, banner, content, sidebar and footer regions. As always, use the Preview ExtraContent Containers option in the theme Miscellaneous settings to see where each one is located. The ones in the sidebar only show if the sidebar is enabled. You can follow the instructions in the Knowledgebase for getting content into these areas, via the stacks or code snippets.

Typography

Spring Pop uses the popular 'Source Sans Pro' embedded font face for all aspects of typography. The use of extra large font sizes give your written content additional impact and certainly work well to improve readability. The font sizes of the banner (slogan) can be easily adjusted in the theme style settings.

Responsiveness

It's vital that any modern website can be viewed on smartphones, tablets and desktop screen sizes without breakage. Spring Pop uses a lot of clever coding to help overcome these problems. For example, many dimensions of the theme (like spacing and font sizes) are set using the 'viewport width' units of measurement. The end result is a theme that flexes to fit almost any screen shape or size.

Fixed or scrolling header

The option exists in the Miscellaneous style settings to make the header bar 'fixed' at the top of the page, on screens wider than 768px wide. If you choose to enable this setting, then you will notice the header bar becomes permanently displayed at the top of the page and gains a subtle shadow effect. As you scroll the page on screens wider than 768px, you will find the top header bar remains in the same place, with page content scrolling underneath. Admittedly not everyone likes this effect, which is why we make it an optional setting in Spring Pop.

Sidebar

The sidebar is disabled by default in Spring Pop, to provide ample space for working with plugins like Stacks. However you can easily turn-on the sidebar in the theme style settings and float it either right or left of the main page content area on desktop screens.

Creative banner backgrounds

The banner background of Spring Pop using a solid green colour by default. However if you drag-and-drop a suitable image into the Site Banner drop zone (within the Page Inspector) you can instantly apply a photograph as a CSS background. This makes Spring Pop surprisingly capable for building a wide range of simple websites.

Customising text labels

The text labels of items in the Spring Pop footer are readily customisable with simple CSS code:

#lastUpdated:before {
content: 'Webpage updated: ';
}

#breadcrumb:before {
content: 'Currently viewing ';
}
This makes it easier to translate these text strings into different languages, for multilingual websites.
