Summit was previously the 'Integral' theme developed by StackManiac and Jermey Blazé. As well as a name change, Summit has been totally rewritten from scratch on the Bootstrap framework and now incorporates a great many more theme style and colour settings.

The emphasis of Summit is very much on typography. Newer versions of Summit now have over 100 embedded web fonts for the webssite title, headings, navigation and body content. All these fonts are stored within the theme contents, so the theme can safely be used 'offline' and there is no invasive tracking of your website users.

Summit is a particularly attractive theme to use for websites which are content-heavy or for e-commerce websites (the RapidCart Pro plugin sold separately works particularly well in this theme).

A large FreeStyle banner container graces the top of the page to grab the attention of your website users; and can support an unlimited number of static images, a simple slider or even video. Just about every colour shown can be customised in this theme using simple colour pickers in the theme settings.

Summit uses a toggle navigation menu on smaller screens and an animated drop-down menu on screens greater than 996px wide. The optional breadcrumb container towards the top of the page provides a useful secondary method of website navigation.

Summit has a total of 12 ExtraContent containers (located in various parts of the page), permitting you to build some quite complex page layouts.

FreeStyle banner

The banner region in Summit is FreeStyle-enabled. By default the banner accepts any image you drag and drop into the 'Banner' box (RapidWeaver 7 and above) in either the Site Setup or Page Inspector.

Alternatively you can change the banner configuration in the theme settings, to use either a FreeStyle stack or ExtraContent 4. 8 sample banner images are included, if using the FreeStyle code snippets.

Optimised for RapidCart Pro

RapidCart Pro is an excellent plugin by 4gnd (not included with the purchase of the theme) which provides the most flexible shopping cart system available for RapidWeaver. This theme includes some special code and additional ExtraContent placeholders to display the shopping cart quantity or shopping cart total in your RapidCart Pro page. This automatically updates when customers add or remove items to their cart. The code snippet to achieve this functionality is fully documented in the Knowledgebase.

RapidCart Pro generates its own right-floating sidebar container, so we provide option in this theme to hide the normal RapidWeaver sidebar. As well as brilliant compatibility with RapidCart Pro, this theme should work fine with a majority of other RapidWeaver shopping cart stacks and plugins.

Summit is a theme that has been used for all sorts of different purposes. Business and marketing websites would be one main use, however this theme would equally be great for building a stylish e-commerce website. A broad range of both theme style and colour settings are built in already, giving you the flexibility to build distinctive websites to a professional standard.

Do more

Like many other ThemeFlood themes, Summit incorporates the complete Twitter Bootstrap toolkit, plus Font Awesome icons. Bootstrap provides you with a 'sweetshop' of design and interface elements; distributed in the form of RapidWeaver code snippets and available to drag and drop straight into pages.

Font Awesome is an open source library of several hundred vector icons. These icons are embedded in the form of web fonts, ensuring icons are retina-enabled and can also be customised using basic CSS code.

Page loading speed is an important factor when building any website. End users want pages that load fast and there is some evidence to suggest that search engines also use page speed as a factor now, when ranking pages. Using a theme like Summit, you can't really go wrong! Summit is highly optimised for speed, and does things differently to many other RapidWeaver themes. In Summit, we optimise a lot of code and ensure it is compatible with CSS consolidation and compression preferences in RapidWeaver. We also do things like deferring theme Javascript loads, until the end of the page.

Summit provides an attractive CSS-animated drop-down menu system by default. Many aspects of this drop-down menu can be customised in the theme style settings.

On smaller screens, the menu will revert to a toggle navigation type. This avoids breakage of the menu on smaller screens (like tablets and smartphones).

To display downward-pointing caret icons after parent page links like we have in the demo site, simply enter this code after the page names:

<i class='arrow fas fa-caret-down' style='font-size:18px;'></i>

The free trial version of Summit can be downloaded using this link. There is no time limit imposed on the demo version, but page navigation links are disabled in the demo version. Watermarks may appear in parts of the page (like the banner or footer). Purchasing Summit provides you with a licensed copy of Summit; without any demo restrictions applied.

Clicking this link will take you to a sample website published using Summit. This may give you a better insight into how this theme looks and behaves. If you're interested to see how the demo website was built, the same project file can be downloaded here and opened in RapidWeaver. Feel free to use this file as the basis for a new website.
