IntroductionAn exclusive free theme for RapidWeaver 8.
Sunny is a pleasantly clean and uplifting theme design; with emphasis on flat design, modern typography and ample spacing. A simple 2-tier navigation layout provides a faster method for end users to navigate a completed website. Sunny includes some of the newest RapidWeaver 8 theme features, like RGBa colour support, number boxes and slider inputs. Sunny would be a particularly great theme design to use for a smaller business, education or marketing website. This is a very customisable theme and you can radically alter its appearance with little effort.
Customisable header background
The default header background uses a solid, sun-gold colour fill. This is where the theme gets its name. Any banner image you drag-and-drop into the RapidWeaver Page Inspector or Site Setup will get applied as a background image. All written content within the header is white, to improve contrast clarity. The logo, title, slogan and parent navigation links can be toggled on or off independently. A single checkbox option is provided to convert a normal 'auto' height header into a header of equal height to the screen, complete with a smooth-scrolling arrow effect.
To accomplish a large icon above the site title (like we have done in the demo site) simply head-over to the Font Awesome website
and choose a suitable icon. Copy the HTML markup and enter it within your RapidWeaver Site Setup or Page Inspector. A similar procedure can be followed for entering icons alongside navigation links; in this instance enter the icon markup next to the page name, per the instructions in the knowledgebase.
Built with Bootstrap
Like many of our themes, Sunny includes Bootstrap
. Not only does Bootstrap provide a strong framework for the core structure of your website; but it also grants you access to dozens of useful user interface components. And Sunny is compatible with our free Bootiful stacks
. Sunny and Bootiful - the perfect combination!
Modern web design frequently puts emphasis on 'whitespace' and the concept of increasing the amount of space around elements. The old notion that "whitespace is wasted space"
is largely untrue nowadays. Responsive units of measurement help us change spacing proportionately to the screen size. Through the use of whitespace, you can significantly increase the overall impact
of completed webpages.
Sunny has 10 ExtraContent containers, cited in various parts of the page. Perfect for creating more complex layouts and to setup things like social media sharing buttons. If you are new to the idea of ExtraContent, please see the chapter in the knowledgebase.
This group of options add some useful features to Sunny. Included are options like toggling the display of certain page elements, changing alignments, applying box shadows and previewing the location of numbered ExtraContent containers. There's also a special setting here to magically make the header container full-height.
For good measure, Sunny includes the Nivo Lightbox effect, Lato embedded font face, jQuery 3, and Font Awesome 5 (free) icons. All these extras are stored within the theme, for better reliability and privacy compliance.
Printer and PDF friendly
Do not underestimate how often people will want to print your webpages or save them for later reading. Sunny includes a dedicated printer stylesheet; to reduce waste paper and ink consumption. Non-essential items like the page navigation links get omitted from print and PDF output. A small step towards saving the planet!
