IntroductionIf I'm bias, I have to say that this is possibly one of my favourite former SeyDesign RapidWeaver themes. The stark "in your face" boldness of this theme design is hard to replicate in any other. For a modern business or corporate website, Sytten could be a good design to use. Think along the lines of an indie software website or a company offering specialist services.
They often say "never judge a book by its cover" and in a similar sense, the same is true for Sytten. If you take a quick glance over its theme style and colour settings, you'll see an extensive choice of things you can change. Plus Sytten comes supplied with a total of ten ready-made preset styles to help get you started in creating some truly jaw dropping web designs that'll stand the test of time.
The origins of the theme name has always been a little mysterious. A web search tells us that "Sytten" translates to "17" in Norwegian. And the "17" logo image seems to correspond with this too. Perhaps this was the 17th theme design that SeyDesign made? The theme definitely has a clean, stylish, Scandinavian feel about itself.
As of December 2020, Sytten has received a major overhaul and been moved onto the ThemeFlood website. Updated with many new features, this theme is totally ready to embrace your next web design project.
Key featuresA few reasons you'll love Sytten...
- Big choice of style and colour settings.
- 10 theme preset styles to select from the Theme Styles drop-down menu.
- Built-in RWFontKit, providing instant access to over 125 embedded, system and web safe font faces.
- Compatibility with all popular RapidWeaver page types, not just Stacks.
- Some great accessibility features, like an ability to tab-through the whole navigation menu.
- Generous font sizing and line heights expertly set to promote good content clarity.
- Some of the theme ExtraContent containers and the sidebar are now "content aware". This means they automatically fade into view, if they contain content.
- Valid HTML5 markup.
Arrows on drop-down menu itemsIf you have subpages to display under a parent link, consider adding little arrows to denote this. Double-click the page name in the RapidWeaver page list. Then type this after the page name:
<i class='fas fa-chevron-down arrow'></i>
These are just Font Awesome icons. Using single quotes instead of double quotes means the page will display correctly in your sitemap. The addition of the extra arrow class is just there to tell the theme not to display this arrow in the mobile toggle menu or your footer breadcrumbs.
MoreThe free trial version of Sytten can be downloaded using this link. There is no time limit imposed on the demo version, but page navigation links are disabled in the demo version. Watermarks may appear in parts of the page (like the banner or footer). Purchasing Sytten provides you with a licensed copy of Sytten; without any demo restrictions applied.
Clicking this link will take you to a sample website published using Sytten. This may give you a better insight into how this theme looks and behaves. If you're interested to see how the demo website was built, the same project file can be downloaded here and opened in RapidWeaver. Feel free to use this file as the basis for a new website.
