Introduction
The responsive Tabs theme is very different from your usual run-of-the-mill RapidWeaver theme. Primarily Tabs has been designed and developed to satisfy the needs of RapidWeaver users seeking to build 'one-page websites'. With this in mind, Tabs purposefully has no navigation menu. Instead you can create tabbed panels of content using Stacks and the free Tabtastic stack.Visually, this is intended as a high-impact theme design. This is very-much evident by the use of simple animation effects, full-screen background images, attractive font faces and vivid colours. You may be somewhat surprised at how customisable this theme is. Tabs is certainly worthy of a closer look.
Throughout its existence, Tabs has proved time and time again to be a particularly useful theme for advertising and marketing websites. A number of people have also found Tabs has suited them very well for the construction of simple resume websites. A great alternative to posting your CV on Facebook or LinkedIn! Tabs can also be used with a number of different e-commerce addons for RapidWeaver; making it perfect for a simple online web store.
Tabs is offered as a replacement to the Splash theme. Both Tabs and Splash shared many similar features. In recent times we have merged Splash into Tabs. Our in-house designer has done great work with overhauling the theme design with many professional touches. If you previously used the Splash theme, you may upgrade to Tabs at no extra cost - please get in contact.
Background
Setup of a static background image is easy in Tabs. If using RapidWeaver 7 or later, simply drag and drop your desired image into the Banner box, within either the Site Setup or the Page Inspector. Within the theme style settings, you can customise the placement and positioning of your background image.A an alternative to a background photograph, you can use a background pattern instead. To do this, set the Background Placement option to None. Now you can choose the colour of the body background and apply an overlay texture in the theme settings. Over 100 background textures are available for you to choose from.
Configuring the tabs
We recommend that you download and use the free Tabtastic stack. This makes the process of splitting your content up into multiple tab panels very easy. Tabtastic will automatically create the tab buttons for you, and provide many options to adjust the style of the tabs. In the past, many users have been able to successfully configure tabs to include Font Awesome icons too.Font face options
For simple, single page websites created with Tabs, font faces can make huge impact. With this in mind, Tabs now includes over 100 web-safe and embedded font faces to choose from. These can be effortlessly applied to the site title, headings and body content. We also include options to change the text / link colours, font size and line height.Making the whole content area 'toggle'
You may notice from the demo site that a 'plus / minus' button is displayed, which lets you toggle the main content container. This optional button is accomplished using the Hide And Show stack; another free download from this website. In the Hide And Show settings, the selector name was set to #main to toggle the main container. The button can be placed on any corner of the page and resized / recoloured to suit your requirements.Creating a video background
It is possible to create a video background in Tabs, using a YouTube video. The easiest way to get this setup is to use the free uTubeFill stack from Stacks4Stacks. The default settings for uTubeFill can be used. Web browsers that support autoplay will play (and loop) the video, whereas browsers without autoplay (like mobile devices) will display the thumbnail image behind your content.More
