Introduction

'Skinny' web designs are becoming an extremely popular trend, amongst web designers and developers building smaller websites and online apps. The ability to squeeze content into narrower containers makes for a distinctive appearance. Research suggests it can also improve the clarity of written content, because it involves less horizontal eye movement. Whatever your reason for choosing to use a theme like Wave, you'll find this to be a very stylish and fun theme to work with. Wave certainly would not look out-of-place used in a creative writing website, an e-commerce website, restaurant or eatery websites, smaller business websites, a personal homepage or as a template for online web apps. Wave is fully-responsive and uses valid HTML5 markup.

Colour pickers

Wave includes 14 colour pickers, which let you customise the colour scheme of just about any element shown on the page. Colour pickers make it super-easy to change the appearance of your RapidWeaver theme quickly and easily. It would certainly be feasible to chance the colour scheme of Wave and create a theme design radically different from the original.

Navigation

Because of the limited space available for navigation links, Wave will only display your top-level (parent links). However subpages can be listed within the breadcrumb trail (within the footer) and you have the ability to manually create your own tabs, links or buttons yourself. The sidebar in this theme is location below the main content container.

FreeStyle enabled

Wave features a FreeStyle banner container; a blank canvas to do just about whatever you want with! Embed static images, a video or even a slideshow. You'll find all setup information for FreeStyle banners clearly presented in the knowledgebase. Five example banner images (named 1.jpg to 5.jpg) are included in the theme contents. If you're using RapidWeaver 7, then you can drag-and-drop a suitable image into the banner drop zone, within the Page Inspector. Within the theme style settings, you can also adjust the border radius of static banner images; the percentage units are useful to use on square images.

Feature-rich

Wave includes 10 ExtraContent containers. Built-in support for Font Awesome icons and the Nivo Lightbox comes as standard. We also include retina image optimisation, responsive video embeds and jQuery 2. Wave is built upon the Twitter Bootstrap framework (version 4) providing instant access to a wide range of user interface components.

Font styling

Wave uses a combination of the Lato and Arvo embedded web font faces for headings and body content. It is feasible to modify the theme and change these font faces for something else. Both font faces five the theme and clean and professional appearance. The 'chunky' font appearance improves content clarity. You'll also find pages look good when printed or saved as a PDF.
