IntroductionWhite is based on the free Black theme; but as the name suggests, it uses a lighter default colour scheme. White makes use of a gorgeous serif embedded web font face (Alegreya) for headings and body content. This makes the White theme particularly apt for personal homepages, simple blogs, small photography or portfolio websites or creative writing. However White is the sort of theme that can be applied to various projects. White is effortless to use, but equally it includes lots of expert features like a FreeStyle banner container, the Twitter Bootstrap framework, Font Awesome Icons, a powerful lightbox effect, responsively scaled video and support for retina images.
NavigationWhite utilises a simple split navigation layout. This basically means that your parent (top level) pages will be displayed horizontally at the top of the page. Any associated child (subpage links) will be displayed in the sidebar container. Split navigation layouts offer an excellent balance between a website that is easy for your users to navigate, but one which still supports multiple levels of pages.
ResponsiveAs you'd expect, White is fully responsive and optimised for mobile and tablet devices. Using White, you can build a single website which all users of various devices and screen sizes can access. White removes the need for building different websites for different devices. Additionally content like images and video (e.g. YourTube and Vimeo) will be scaled-down to fit smaller screens.
FreeStyle bannerThe optional banner container in White is FreeStyle enabled. Think of FreeStyle banners as an empty canvas, into which you can place almost any type of content, including text, static images, video or even slideshows. You can use the FreeStyle stack to setup and embed your content, Alternatively use ExtraContent3 or the standard FreeStyle code snippets documented in the knowledgebase. With FreeStyle, in next-to-no-time you'll have a brilliant banner setup to grab the attention of your website visitors! Five beautiful example banner images are included in this theme, measuring 1400px wide and 600px tall.
White also features a CTA (call to action) container that is layered over the FreeStyle banner. This means that your banner can provide a useful function and enable you to display bold text or links for improved user engagement.
