Stacks is a page type plugin developed by Yourhead Software. In hindsight, Stacks really should have been a part of the core RapidWeaver app, but the way RapidWeaver has evolved, RapidWeaver and Stacks are separate items to buy. The Stacks plugin offers a modular 'drag and drop' interface for adding style and other components to your website. Many consider Stacks an essential add-on to purchase for RapidWeaver. The individual components used in Stacks are known as 'stacks' (note the lowercase 's'). This webpage provides lots of innovative and useful stacks to use exclusively with ThemeFlood themes.

I make so many stacks, that I ran out of space on this website for them all! So you can find plenty more over at my other website, Stacks4Stacks.

Bootiful

A set of over 20 Bootstrap (version 4) components. Each one is conveniently packaged as an individual drag-and-drop-ready stack element. These stacks can help you add impressive interface elements to webpages, quickly generate tables or custom-build complete websites. Perfect for use in combination with our themes like RWSkinz. Originally created by Twitter, the Bootstrap framework has branched-out to become the most popular frontend web development framework in existence; used and loved by people worldwide. All these stacks are pure HTML and CSS; resulting in refreshingly simple setup, fast loading speeds and great end-user accessibility. Bootiful stacks are also 100% code-free to setup, making them a great choice for novice users! More complex Javascript-derived effects (like contact forms, responsive grids, menu bars, tab sets, slideshows and modals are available with our other free stacks). Once installed, search for 'Bootiful' in your Stacks library and start with the Bootiful 'Base' stack.

Buttonist

A simple stack for the creation of pure CSS buttons. No graphics means these buttons load almost instantly and are highly accessible. Custom attributes are supported, permitting interaction with other stacks like lightboxes. In many web designs, buttons can form an essential part of the user interface. Our themes already include support for the button styles offered by Bootstrap. However, the Buttonist stack allows you to effortlessly create eye-catching, custom button designs in just a few clicks. Numerous style and colour settings are provided. Buttonist can prove to be quite a fun and addictive stack to play with! Within Buttonist, it is possible to generate an 'export' of the button HTML / CSS markup, which you can then reuse in non-Stacks page types.

A brook meandered leisurely through the fertile meadows at a drowsy pace. Shimming eddies gently combed through lush reeds and lightly caressed prominent irises. Shingle shone from below the glass-like waters, with an intensity of gold. Majestic poplar trees whispered a soothing hush in the sultry summer breeze. The pure tranquility was only occasionally broken by the sharp shrill of a moorhen and distant peal of church bells from a hill afar. For Emma lying in the dappled coolness of the fescue, this was her paradise, where time had no meaning.

Fontamental

Font styling is a fundamental of professional web design. Our aptly named 'Fontamental' stack gives you powerful options to change many different parameters of font styling. Fontamental will let you toggle between an inherited font face from the theme, a web safe font stack or add subsets of embedded font faces you host yourself. The style, size, line height, weight, variant, colour, alignment, decoration, transformation, indentation, letter spacing and word spacing can all be customised within a couple of clicks. Fontamental can either be applied to content you place within the stack or you can target content elsewhere on the page via custom selector names. A perfect stack to use in conjunction with free WOFF / WOFF2 font faces generated with Font Squirrel or downloaded from Google Web Fonts. A quick video of the Fontamental stack in use, showing an embedded font face being added as a resource in RapidWeaver 8 and style changes being made to the text can be viewed here.

FreeStyle

Headers and banners feature heavily in many of our theme designs. The FreeStyle stack makes the customisation of these areas a quick and painless task! You can change the placement of FreeStyle between one of either a theme FreeStyle container, an ExtraContent container or the normal page flow. If multiple images are supplied, then these are converted into a beautiful slideshow; with options for captions, Ken Burns zooming animation effects, overlays and navigation links. This download is for the newest version of FreeStyle, an exclusive for ThemeFlood customers, which supersedes the older one listed on Stacks4Stacks.

Navigation is one of the most important components to design and build correctly in a website. If end users are unable to navigate your website, they will abandon it and go elsewhere. For this reason, you should dedicate extra time into designing and deploying the best possible website navigation. As is so often the case, the 'simple is best' approach tends to work best with website navigation.

A version of Gator for use with free themes or themes from another company is available to purchase here.

Gator

An impressive website navigator stack with serious bite! Gator is great to use in themes (like RWSkinz) where you demand far more control over the style of a navigation menu. With Gator, you can either use the navigation links RapidWeaver generates for you already or custom-build your own menu using the sample HTML markup provided. A huge choice of options are provided to let you control many aspects of your menu on both mobile and desktop. Not only is Gator quick to setup and fun to use, but it also gives you a range of inspiring options simply not available in other navigation stacks. Gator uses some of the newest CSS technologies (like Flexbox), is mobile-first engineered and is compatible with all modern web browsers. As a bonus, additional content (like a title, logo or social links) can be inserted effortlessly before or after your normal navigation links.

Gridlocity

Combines the elegance of Stacks with the power of the 12-point Bootstrap grid system. Gridlocity uses modern CSS Flexbox, now supported by all modern web browsers. The user interface presents you with simple sliders for the 5 main Bootstrap breakpoints (extra small, small, medium, large and extra large). These sliders allow you to precisely control the width of individual columns on particular breakpoints. This could prove to be an immensely useful stack for building more complex page layouts.

Henk's Slider

Originally developed by Henk Vriesalaar, in partnership with Tsooj Media, for use in a handful of his theme designs. This slider stack helps you get a fullscreen, background image slideshow configured within particular themes. The stack loads the images you supply into the theme and links-up navigation controls and the display of caption content. Numerous settings are provided in the stack to help you customise the presentation of images. You can either use images dragged and dropped into RapidWeaver or images stored at an external warehouse location. 15 sample images (photographed by Will Woodgate and shown in this demo) are included to help you get started.

Hide And Show

This stack displays a toggle button in the corner of your webpage. When the button is clicked or pressed, you can configure content containers in the page to hide. Why would you want to do this? Some of our themes feature full-screen background images or slideshows. Sometimes a website user might want to see the page background in its entirety - without the clutter of content containers layered over the top. So the Hide And Show stack could prove to be a useful feature to include in certain page designs. Hide And Show uses jQuery Javascript code to hide and show sections of webpages. Normal selector names can be used to target the parts of the page you want hidden or shown. Please ask if you require help configuring it for your theme.

Intrinsic

Quite possibly the most sophisticated CSS Grid stack available for RapidWeaver. Intrinsic offers a ground-breaking solution for creating impressive and ultra-flexible, fluid grid systems that simply were not feasible before now. The possibilities of this stack are truly awe-inspiring. Although this free stack was made primarily for use with the RWSkinz system, we think you might love using this stack in our other premium themes too; like Elite, Media, Mondrian, Flood and Forest. Make no mistake - no other grid stack on the market can create the types of layout feasible with Intrinsic. CSS Grid is the future of modern web design. Intrinsic gives you all you need to embrace this wonderful new technology and make you the hottest web design talent around for miles!

Please see this page on the Stacks4Stacks website for the full Intrinsic documentation. A video walk-through of the Intrinsic stack being used in RWSkinz was published here.

Scrolly

This slider is built with one thing in mind - accessibility. So many existing carousels look great on screen, but fail miserably for disabled website users. Scrolly is derived from the free Owl Carousel plugin. However this special build has a number of adaptations to help all website users. It's ideal to place on the main page or within a theme banner / ExtraContent container. Website users can view the slider content at their own pace and manually advance the slides backwards or forwards with simple buttons, keyboard shortcuts, voice commands or swipe gestures on touch screens. Any simple stack types can be placed inside Scrolly items; including text, images, HTML and Markdown. There is no limit imposed on the number of items your Scrolly slider can contain. Scrolly items can be easily added, reordered or deleted in edit mode. Several style and behavioural settings are built into Scrolly. It is possible to display instructions when the slider receives focus.

Sectional

Intrinsic's baby brother! The Sectional stack uses a mixture of modern CSS flexbox technologies to create pairs of equal-height columns. Both the left and right columns can be customised individually with alignment, text colouring and different background effects. Sectional is perfect to use for quick aligning a block of content vertically. Alternatively enabling both columns lets you create more of a 'checkerboard' effect combining written content and pictures. A similar effect can be found on the Realmac Software homepage, for the different app listings. On smaller screens (below the breakpoint setting) the double-columns will reform as single columns of an 'auto' height. Sectional purposefully avoids the use of any complicated scrolling or loading animation effects, to guarantee the finished page will always scroll smoothly. In older web browser that do not support CSS flexbox, the layout safely degrades to a simple stack of items.

Tabtastic

A useful stack that makes it easier to create tabbed user interfaces. Tabtastic is perfect to use in themes like Tabs. On mobile, tabs are stacked vertically; whereas on desktop the tabs render as equal-width buttons along the top of your content. Tab titles can comprise of plain text, simple HTML or Font Awesome icons. Within each tab panel you can place text, images, columns, forms, HTML code and other basic content. Panels automatically adjust in height to fit the content.

Viewty

A wonderfully simplistic yet attractive way to present a collection of images. The first image in the collection is permanently displayed on the page and acts as a link. Clicking this first image displays the navigation bar and next / previous buttons for the other images. Zoom and fullscreen support are built-in as standard. Your image viewer can either render within the stack itself (default), or you can display it as a full-page modal - which looks fantastic! Image captions and gallery titles are supported. You can either use images dragged and dropped into RapidWeaver or images stored in a warehouse location. 4 sample images (photographed by Will Woodgate) are provided to help you get started. Multiple Viewty stacks can be safely used in the same webpage, for displaying different collections of images.

Zonal Stack for RapidWeaver

Zonal

This stack places linked subheadings within your normal page content container. Nothing much special about that, you might be thinking! However in addition to this, Zonal places fullscreen background images behind your content. Touching or mousing-over the linked subheadings changes the background image shown with a subtle animation effect. Zonal would be perfect to use for a website landing page or a simple infographic. You can either use images dragged-and-dropped into RapidWeaver or images stored in an online location. All images are preloaded, to avoid an ugly 'flash' of incomplete images. A vast array of style options are provided to customise text styling and dimensions. Text shadows and a background fill can be applied to improve content clarity, against the background images. Perfect to use with themes like Blank and RWSkinz. See a live demo here.

About the stacks offered here...

All of the stacks listed above are provided free, exclusively for use within ThemeFlood themes. These stacks have some dependencies on code, settings or other libraries already built into my RapidWeaver themes. Therefore these stacks will not work with themes developed by other companies. Stacks which contain more features (and which can potentially be used with a wider choice of themes) are available from Stacks4Stacks.

All stack elements require the Stacks plugin from YourHead software. This is a separate plugin to purchase for RapidWeaver, if you don't already have it. To install a new stack, download the .zip package and uncompress it. Drag and drop the file ending in .stack onto your RapidWeaver dock icon and restart RapidWeaver. Installed stacks become available for you to use, from within the Stacks Library, after you have added a Stacks page type to your website. Drag and drop stacks from your Stacks Library into the webpage, to start building with them. Selecting a stack in edit mode displays its available settings, within the side panel.
