First released publicly in late 2006, Black & White has always maintained a strong following with bloggers, artists and photographers wanting a simple yet robust RapidWeaver theme to work with. The high contrasting colour scheme lends itself well to websites which are particularly content-heavy, and the minimalist style gives content that extra bit of breathing space.Lightweight
Black & White is largely devoid of any graphics, so pages created with this RapidWeaver theme load very quickly, with minimal bandwidth. This theme is quite possibly one of the lightest addon RapidWeaver themes available on the market. Steps have been taken like calling Javascript code from the end of pages, to improve page rendering speed. The option is provided in the theme style settings to switch between either a split or sidebar block navigation layout. To make Black & White a banner-less RapidWeaver theme was quite a bold design decision to make; but many existing users are appreciative of the extra speed and flexibility this has promoted.Responsive
This is a fully responsive RapidWeaver theme; meaning that you can opt for a maximum-width, which then scales down on smaller screens (without horizontal scrollbars appearing). Black & White harnesses the RAFT (Responsive Adaptive Framework for Themes) to provide excellent tablet and smart phone optimisations.
